Seaside Journeys: Tuscany & Liguria

Coastal light, easy promenades, and the pleasure of staying near the water.

Where medieval towns meet the Mediterranean, and every coastline tells a story.

Pisa: More Than a Leaning Tower

Our trip began in Pisa, home to one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks. Standing before the Leaning Tower, it is easy to understand why generations of travelers have made this their first stop in Tuscany. Yet the surrounding Piazza dei Miracoli is equally impressive, with its cathedral, baptistery, and remarkable examples of Romanesque architecture.

Beyond the famous photographs lies a city rich in history, culture, and craftsmanship. Pisa serves as an ideal gateway for you to begin exploring the broader landscapes of Tuscany.

Cinque Terre: Italy’s Colorful Coastline

From Tuscany, our route continued north into Liguria and the dramatic coastline of Cinque Terre. Perched on steep cliffs above the Ligurian Sea, these colorful villages have become symbols of coastal Italy.

Those vibrant houses appear to spill down the hillsides toward the water, creating a landscape that feels almost unreal. Narrow streets, scenic walking paths, fishing boats, and endless sea views combine to create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Europe.

For many travelers, Cinque Terre represents the very essence of the Italian Riviera.

Lerici: An Evening on the Gulf of Poets

Our final stop brought a quieter side of Liguria into focus. As evening settled over Lerici Harbor, the character of the region changed from vibrant and energetic to calm and reflective.

Fishing boats rested in the marina while the lights of the town shimmered across the water beneath a rising moon. High above the harbor, the castle watched over the coastline just as it has for centuries.

Moments like these often become, for us, the lasting memories of travel. Not the crowded landmarks, but the unexpected pause at day’s end when a destination reveals its true personality.
